Namdev: Singing the sound

When I see him, I sing –
That’s how this nothing of a slave
Became tranquil, patient:
When you meet the radiance of the true master,
You merge in song!

Where he makes the dazzling light visible,
The unstruck sound rings out.
Your light merges in the light –
By the grace of the master I now know this.

The jewels in the lotus, his treasure house,
Glitter and flash like lightning.
He is nearby, not far at all –
Permeating every part of you to the depths of your soul.

Where the unending sun shines,
The burning of ceremonial lamps
Is neither here nor there –
By the grace of the master I now know this.

Slave Namdev has merged in Tranquillity –
Singing, singing the sound, the song.
